1. What are the main points in this chapter?
-Ads incorporate myths
-Like a story most conflicts are resolved by the end of an ad
-Branding
2. What evidence does the author use to support these points?
-Advertising plays off of people's insecurities of how they are placed in society, such as being beautiful or how successful one is which function as myths and the ads that say such things bombard our race with these points until something sticks.
-By reading through the whole ad or looking at in thoroughly you can get the message that is being conveyed.
-Not just a well known name, but to have good branding you must have good products as well as good customer service. It's about being able to create and identity.
3.Is this evidence convincing?
-Yes
4. Would someone with a different world view be convinced?

1.) I do believe that there are a lot of underlining meanings in advertisement today that are meant to reach people of all sorts of different classes, ages, gender, ethnicity, behaviors, and morals. Some advertisements have ways of making people feel certain ways; maybe sad, guilty, happy, smart, safe or whatever. I think that some of these ads can be offensive or misleading but can also be affective and smart.
2. For a lot of advertisements you have to watch or listen to the whole thing or else you will miss the point or message they are relaying back to you. Some ads are very direct while others can be very indirect.
3. BRANDS BRANDS BRANDS! People are so materialistic these days and concerned about what brands they are sporting than they are with their lives as a whole. Well this is an exaggeration from my point of view, but brands have made a new medium for themselves. Some are very well known both nationally and internationally and can have varied meanings to every place where they are featured, and can mean different things to different people.
I believe that ads are probably on of the most controversial subjects today. The images that ads sell to people sometimes have nothing to do with the actual product. More over, sometimes the models chosen or the product itself can promote unhealthy lifestyles.
I also find it interesting that just because a pair of jeans or any other product has a certain brand on it means that it can basically advertise its self. For example, think about how many ads you see of Seven Jeans, pretty much close to none, thats because they don't have to advertise it since the brand does it on its own with having a certain demographic wearing it. Just like in high school, if your friends wear it then you want it too.
